Super Fantastic Caption Contest (#24)

WARNING!

WARNING!

You are about to enter that part of the Internet that your Momma warned you about. Proceed at your own risk - wear protective headgear if necessary.

Okay people, let's get down to some captionizing.

This week's picture is very interesting if not quite as deliberately humorous as some have been in the past. I do have a good feeling about it, though. I wouldn't be surprised to see some really insightful and funny comments out there that are just waiting to be set free.

Go ahead . . . set them free . . .

The Song of The Week (#3)

Feedback Monday (#50)

Okay people, here's one for ya . . .

"Feedback Fri-Sat-Sun-Monday" is celebrating it's 50th go around today and I wanted to just say a big Thank You to all the readers out there who show up each week and participate. Without you it's not nearly as exciting. In fact, without your interesting and insightful comments, it's pretty much just me, my flickering, empty computer screen and a monkey that knows sign-language (don't ask).

So, this week we want to know what keeps you devoted commentarians coming back.

That's it . . . that's the assignment.

What would you miss most if Procrastination Station suddenly disappeared from the Internet forever?

This should be interesting.

I can't wait to read all three of your answers . . .

Over the River and Through the Woods . . .

Top 10 Things to Remember During the Holiday Travel Season -

1. Your bag is never going to fit in that tiny overhead compartment, so stop trying to cram it in. You're just going to have to choose between packing a change of underwear or bringing the new edition of "Coin Collector Monthly" . . . it's that simple.

2. No matter how hungry you get, don't eat any corn-dog crust or french fries found under the car-seat. It just makes sense - You don't know whether they fell down there an hour ago or last Thanksgiving.

3. There is absolutely no danger of catching a cold on an airplane . . . unless you breathe.

4. Call ahead and make sure that the in-flight movie isn't "Snakes on a Plane".

5. There's no such thing as a "quick" bathroom stop.

6. The Swedish Institute of Technology recently conducted a study on time travel, and to absolutely no one's surprise, they discovered that time actually slows down when experienced in a minivan.

7. Apparently, the shortest distance between two points involves a 3 hour lay-over in Minneapolis.

8. The only thing harder than waking up at 3:45 in order to get to the airport the required 4 and 1/2 hours before your flight is trying to remove catchup and drool stains from your new Mercedes M-Class armrest.

9. Hearing the words "Are we there yet?" 4,982 times in one hour has been scientifically linked to premature aging. Look it up.

10. Never, ever attempt to take a can of cranberry sauce through customs. It's just bad form. And besides, have you ever seen the fallout from one of those "home-cooked" cranberry sauce bombs? It ain't a pretty sight.

The Song of The Week (#2)

Feedback Sunday (#49)

Okay, I know it's Sunday. I can read a calendar.

The problem is that the boss man here at PS Corporate Headquarters don't care. The simple truth is that if I don't get some feedback going down in here something pronto, I'm gonna be spending way too much of my non-existent freetime over at jobsforex-bloggers.com.

Oh the shame of it.

So, let's not have to go there . . .

This week's assignment is pretty simple actually. What is your favorite thing about Thanksgiving?

Everyone out there should be able to come up with something . . .

And I don't want to hear from everyone about how your ultimate favorite thing of all favorite things during the Thanksgiving holiday is that slurpy, glopping sound you're always able to produce when you hork your lips around the tin can and vacuum-suck down all the cranberry sauce in Western New Jersey.

It's just gross . . .

Super Fantastic Caption Contest (#23)

So, I'm just about finished with my pancake and halibut lunch and there's only like 3 jalapeno-horseradish potato chips left, when it suddenly hit me like a bolt of lightning crashing out of the blue . . .

It's Thursday!

Dude! I totally forgot the Caption Contest.

Can you ever forgive me?

Don't answer that.

This week's picture is pretty good. It should elicit some interesting caption/comments.

Looking forward to it . . .

The Song of The Week (#1)

Okay people, here's something new and exciting for ya . . .

The Management here at Procrastination Station has been pouring over all of the reader fan mail that comes in each week and I'm afraid that the #1 request of "shutting down the blog immediately and giving everyone their money back" is quite out of the question. The good news, though, is that the big-wigs up at Corporate have decided to introduce a brand spankin' new feature which already promises to be the sleeper hit of the season for pretty much all of the known blog-o-sphere.

Before we unveil the surprise, let me just say that countless hours of research (and by research I mean "rocking the world" and "banging our heads") went into the preparation stages of what we feel can only be called "The Song of The Week".

As you may have already deduced, this isn't rocket science here people . . . in fact, it's beyond self-explanatory.

It's one song, each week, that sums up and embodies the vibe for that particular moment in time here at The Station. The truth is that even though we strive to be the premiere source for intelligent and informative content on the internet, we're still basically just a bunch of music-lovers at heart.

So, without allowing the buildup and fanfare to cross that imaginary line and go over the top (too late!), I proudly present the very first installment of "The Song of The Week" . . .

Enjoy - Ben O.

Super Fantastic Caption Contest (#22)

Wow, how time flies!

Tuesday is here and that means it's time to scrub the sceptic tank out again.

No, wait . . . that was last year.

Everyone knows that Tuesday is Super Fantastic Caption Contest day.

This week's offering is a nice, subtle shot with plenty of potential for comment.

Should be fun . . .

Halloween Lament

Oh, let this un-creepy weight be soonely lifted so far away from me,
Once scary decorations and sad lil' un-lit pumpkins scattered everywhere,
The droopy, forgotten leftovers of All Hallows' Eve are all that I can see,
And soon the stockings will need to be dug-out and hung with care.

The dog-days of Fall are once again squarely upon us,
Chaotickly calling from behind far-off reinforced shopping mall walls,
Frenzied displays containing every holiday hero in surplus,
Santa in his rosy red finest snuggles curiously with Tom Turkey in overalls.

The days immediately following Halloween are truly the lamest of days,
What was previously stalking around curdling blood and candying corn,
Is currently curled up in the corner avoiding having to learn new ways,
Scurrying lil' spiders disappear and witches brooming frantically away forlorn.

So, here's to the final howls of the wolfmen lingering out amongst the mist,
Zombie-boy and the 39-eyed Alien have certainly scared their last lil' kid for the year,
It's time for ornaments and giblet gravy and the checking twice of lists,
Linus & Lucy van Pelt, get that spindly lil' tree ready . . . Halloween's over again and now we have no fear.
